Accepting resume’s for Urban Forest Restoration crew

September 18, 2017

Garden Cycles is accepting applications for field crew for restoration in Seattle Parks’ natural areas, primarily in West Seattle.

The job entails physical work in rough terrain, mostly herbicide applications (we use protective gear), mostly cut & treat of invasive plants. We need people who have plant ID skills, who know the difference between Himalayan and native blackberries, between English holly and native Tall Oregon Grape. Can you distinguish English laurel or European hawthorn in the woods? We hone our ID skills as we work, but you need an interest and aptitude for eradicating invasive plants and preserving native plants. We are looking for people who have a sense of urgency about the need for efficiency given limited public budgets. Workers must be able to push themselves physically, with consistent effort.

We offer flexible-time positions, asking for at least a 3-day per week commitment, primarily April through October, with winter work more sporadic. E-mail Steve Richmond with a resume or informal summary of your experience: gardencycles@hotmail.com. Or call (206) 650-9807. Steve may be out of the office, so please cc Robert Hayden: rehayden2000@aim.com, (206) 370-4014.
